What is it?
It is a coarse-grained sand, often mixed with fine gravel or small stones, which helps it compact well.
It provides a firm, even foundation for paving slabs, blocks, or natural stone.
Unlike soft building sand, it is less prone to shifting or washing away.
Best Uses:

Forms the final bedding layer under paving slabs or block paving.
Helps achieve a level and stable surface to prevent movement and unevenness.
2. Driveways
Used as part of the sub-base system, providing a solid yet permeable layer.
Typically placed above hardcore or MOT Type 1 sub-base material.
3. Pathways & Garden Features
Creates a stable base for stepping stones, paths, or decorative paving.
4. General Landscaping
Can be used under artificial grass as a leveling and drainage layer.
Suitable for filling uneven ground before applying other finishes.
Difference from Regular Sand
Unlike soft or building sand, grit sand (also called sharp sand) has a coarser texture with angular grains, making it ideal for stability and drainage rather than for mixing with mortar.
Why Use Grit Sand Instead of Regular Sand?
Better Drainage: Its coarse particles allow water to drain easily, preventing puddling.
