For a long-lasting job, always prepare a well-compacted sub-base and lay the flags on a full mortar bed — never spot bed. Keep joints even and allow a slight fall away from the house to ensure proper drainage. Finish with a quality jointing compound to secure the slabs and maintain a tidy look.
